In today’s fast-paced world, everything revolves around the screens. From the moment we wake up to when we get to bed, social media and notifications fill our lives. While these tools help us stay in touch with friends, they also create pressure to show a perfect online life.
Despite the reality that many of these images are edited or chosen to look good, teenagers compare themselves to what they see on social media. It is like a double-edged sword: On one side it is helpful while on the other side, it causes anxiety or raises concerns like privacy.
Another problem is that being constantly connected makes it hard to have real conservations. Sometimes my friend and I spend more time on phones than talking to each other.
In today’s era, children prefer online texting rather than face-to-face meetups. Despite these challenges, we can find balance in our digital lives. Setting limits on social media and focusing on face-to-face interactions has helped me greatly. It reminds me that while technology is useful, it is important to connect with people in real life.
As young people growing up in this digital age, we must navigate these dilemmas carefully. By using technology mindfully, we can benefit from it without diminishing our real-world relationships.
