Cow and a Goat / Adiba Anwar

Cow and a Goat / Adiba Anwar

Opinion
By Adiba Anwar Poetry of Allama Iqbal for children adopted story. Once there was a cow in a verdant pasture filled with the pleasant fragrance of Spring. Brooks of blue and sweat water flow there with pride. Around was surrounded by countless trees of pomegranate and pipal. And the sounds of birds and cool breezes fill the air with love. Then a Goat appeared at the bank of the brook from somewhere who was also browsing. She stopped browsing for a while and looked around. She found a cow was also standing there. Just to have some nice talk with the cow little goat paid regards (Salaam) and she started talking in a very tactful tone. Goat:- Most respected madam Cow! How are you doing Cow:- Not very well. Then she began to complain about many things. Cow:- I'm surprised and cursi...
ONCE IN A WHILE AN APPROACH OF KINDNESS AND LOVE | BY NABIHA ABRAR

ONCE IN A WHILE AN APPROACH OF KINDNESS AND LOVE | BY NABIHA ABRAR

Opinion
NABIHA ABRAR It feels fantastic to experience an approach of kindness and love, once in a while. For a human heart is made that way I guess; it appreciates the beauty of genuine care within. “Assalam U Alaikum, Mama.” Here in Quetta, I’ve gotten used to a couple of things that seemed funny just a year ago… as I should. ‘Mama’ is a term of endearment or respect the natives here use for an older man. Balochi/Brahvi language and Pashto feel so familiar now, even more than Pahari (the language spoken in Azad Kashmir); these have been rooted within me for years, though I only know a few words in them that I come across often or phrases their traditional songs have gotten me used to. No one’s proud of me for that more than my parents since they believe I’m doing a great job adjust...

Urban flooding | Chaudhry Muhammad Latif

Opinion
By Chaudhry Muhammad Latif Recent climate resultant flooding in Pakistan has given a wakeup call to harness natural blessing of rain water to tackle simultaneously probable drought in 2025 and urban flooding to avoid human catastrophe in the future. It has been felt advisable to adopt ground water recharge wells technology as a national policy to counter urban flooding and to build reservoirs big or small as many as possible so as to be ready to save every drop of rain water. The rain water storage solutions like artificial lakes on micro level commencing from housing societies and artificial recharge wells would help manage rain water. We will have to either reduce ground water extraction mostly by tube wells or increase water table recharge in urban areas in particular. Luckily the...

Floodings | Callousness, chaos, and confusion | MI Mazhar

Opinion
In the midst of all the callousness, chaos, and confusion Pakistan needs leadership that could sail this country through one of the worst public health crises. Over 75% of districts in Sindh province are still flooded - and many roads are underwater, the BBC has recently reported. However, Pakistan's political leadership and notoriously wealthy families have shown a callous heart to the flood-affected communities. This has shown a chaotic performance in the face of recent phenomenal floods. The textile industry has nearly collapsed in aftermath of the massive flooding.  and the UN has increased flood aid appeals for Pakistan. The World body is now seeking $816m for flood-relief efforts, up from the initial appeal in August for $160m. The government of the Sindh province est...
Meeting with a Mayor/ Muhadsa Naqvi

Meeting with a Mayor/ Muhadsa Naqvi

Opinion
Muhadsa Naqvi Today I had a wonderful meeting today with the Mayor Daniel Johnson of City of Lewiston ID, USA. As part of his Interview, I asked him different questions and one question was: Imagine you become the President of US, how will you try to solve the issue of Kashmir? And he was very honest about it, he didn't say anything to please me like other politicians do (Fake Promises). And he stressed upon being honest with the people as part of his qualities being a Mayor. I also got a chance to meet Council President Hannah Liedkie and Councillor Jim Kleeburg. Everybody was so humble and friendly. We stayed there for a while to see and observe; how City Council meetings work.  I witnessed and I am impressed, the way they give chance to common people to talk to the Mayor and City...

When zest is a myth/ Written by: Asma Hamza

Opinion
Author : Asma Hamza I'm bidding farewell to the zest in me. I pack my giddiness, my chortle, my blazing spark and go to live in the shadows. Do you want to know why? Here it goes. A plethora of randomness ahead. Age is NOT just a number. It isn't. It just isn't. It is the most agonising word in the lexicon. It does not look cute watching a forty-five-plus lady dancing her wits out on a random sidewalk. You might differ and that is fine but when I tell you age is the most crucial thing out there you have got to believe. You might be talented, full of potential, lively and all. But it always comes down to numbers when it comes to opportunities. Essay competition? Age bracket 20-30 max! Signing competition? Youngsters would be auditioned only unless there is an aged laughing stock t...

Saving every drop of rain water | select better option | By Chaudhry Muhammad Latif

Opinion
Chaudhry Muhammad Latif TREE plantation is an annual ceremonial exercise launched by the forest department of the government. The cooperation in this respect is sought from the resourceful and disciplined institution of Army, NGOs, students and scouts. The present government went beyond and undertook tsunami of 10 billion trees. The fact remains that no tree can survive and thrive without timely water supply. In Muzaffarabad we achieved some healthy results of reforestation when forest enclosures were named after the Prime Minister, Forest Minister, Education Minister, Commander 5 Brigade and Muzaffarabad Development Authority. The said enclosures are visible and tangible around Muzaffarabad city obviously adding beauty to the city. Some fifty years back the water supply ...

Opinion
Asma Hamza Dear remains,They fed me blood instead of water. They strutted! They were never appreciative of the legion blessings and abhorred preserving any. However, their lackadaisical consumption drained me entirely.I was never loved. I never stood a chance, did I? So it only made sense to grant what they practically begged for.An oxygen-depleted Earth, sterile soil, and a  Macrocosm with meagre water. Now they plan to trudge over my fellow planets but I've something up my sleeves. A tremor so cataclysmic none of them would survive.O human, the thankless; Enough with the blame game! You only got what you deserved.Sincerely,Your age-old home,Earth.
