I gave you my heart, soft and whole,

You held it like fire, out of control.

Words like honey, sweet at first,

But promises faded, quenched my thirst.

You left in silence, no goodbye,

Just echoes where love used to lie.

Now every laugh sounds far away,

A ghost of joy from yesterday.

The nights are long, the stars don’t shine,

Your shadow still walks next to mine.

I try to smile, I try to mend,

But broken hearts take time to bend.

Each tear that falls is not for you,

But for the dreams that won’t come true.

Still, I’ll rise, though torn apart,

With stitched-up soul and patched-up heart.
